I'm Doug Slaton aka Spokane's own "Computer Commando" and the owner of Computer Service Spokane.

I started working on main frame computers in the USAF in 1978.  I built my first personal computer in 1988 and was actually on the Internet before the world wide web (WWW) showed up.  Imagine no where to surf to and getting there at the blazing fast speed of 300 baud (yes, that would be slower than an ameba on Quaaludes).

I retired from the USAF in 1992 and went back to school for a degree in Sociology...Why you ask?  I'm not sure, it sounded like a good idea at the time. <ROTFL>

I learned all about hardware in the USAF, discovered software on my own and even taught myself a couple programming languages along the way.

My first computer was  a Sinclair ZX80.  With only 4k of RAM you had to write very clean, concise programs.  I opted for the 16k upgrade - Wow, what a supercomputer!.
